Another more leisurely start to the day. We all enjoyed eggs for breakie .. don't want to find out if you can actually get sick of croissants! Today was our trip to Musée d'Orsay. It was awesome ... better than the Louvre. I had downloaded an audioguide by Rick Steeves for us to listen to. It was a two hoour tour highlighting all the most important works with a good dose of fun. In the end we had spent over 3.5 hours there and everyone could have stayed longer. We took a few stops so the girls could draw one of the pieces of artwork. They were not alone but they drew much faster than the others! Tessa cracked us up when she said that she didn't want to draw naked people. By midafternoon wE were starving so we decided to splurge and go to the restaurant in the museum. It was originally a ballroom so you can imagine the decor - 40 foot ceiling, huge windows, chandlers, gold trim and details on the walls with amazing painted ceilings. I think we were a bit underdressed but the did seat and serve us. This was one of the best meals so far with kids. For one there was a kids menu that was CHEAP by comparison to anything else we've seen. The girls devoured the steamed salmon before they even touched the pomme frites (french fries), and the 3 scoops of crème glacée were to die for!
Now with our bellies full we walKed across the Seine to the musèe d'Orangerie where we were able to view Monet's water lilies. These were something to see. With the museum pass we happily did a walk through here in about 30 minutes before moving on. Skipping the line up was a bonus too!
As if we hadn't climbed enough stairs (not even including all those in the metro), we went to the Arc de Triumphe and climbed another 284 spiral steps up to the roof.More spectacular views of the city. I noticed that even with the size of the city, that the air is fairly clear. No brown layer of smog like I've seen over major cities elsewere.
On our way home Tessa convinced us, as only your youngest can do, to stop at the Tuilleries were there was a midway set up. She had seen the ferris wheel from afar and REALLY wanted to go up. It was far from cheap but we decided to go for it. The views of the Louvre and surrounding area were very nice and I managed to get some nice shots once I convince them not to spin the cuplike chair around.

Hi Michelle and family, I have tried to post a comment before and it didn't work so I will now see if what ever you did allows me to say hi. It was great to see all your stories and a few of your pictures when we got home from our RV trip. It sure looks like you are having a great time and that the girls are enjoying it also. Look forward to seeing all your pictures when you get home. Love Lynn
