From there we headed over to Pitt Meadows to watch Mitch race in KSC (Kumho SuperChallenge) - a two day event hosted by the VCMC sports car club. It is probably one of my favorite events of the entire year to watch because on day two (Sunday) the top 30 drivers plus 10 lucky losers get to drive in the shootout. Each of these drivers then is given one run and it needs to be both fast and clean to stay in the competition. Mitch at the end of the two days of driving was 10th out of 90+ drivers so he was one of the drivers who earned a spot in this shoot out. It is so much fun watching him compete - especially with a course that allowed him to make use of the subi AWD. In the first round of the shoot out he was clean and ended up about 12th out of the 40 drivers. From there the top 20 drivers moved on and he had another chance ... oh did I mention that after each round they modify the course a slight bit so that the drivers have to "deal" with in as it happens! He ended up 12th out of the 20 but only the top 10 moved on to the next round - I know he was hoping that his new tires and alignment were going to help him get into the next round but it wasn't to be. I think he did great and was consistently fast all weekend and was someone everyone was keeping their eye on. On top of that he was able to perform well even with the blistering heat wave we are currently experiencing in the lower mainland. Now we are resting and cooling off at home before heading over to the Carnoustie Golf course for the windup banquet which is always a good time (as long as the Kumho rep doesn't spend an hour talking about tire tread again .... ugh). The girls are excited about getting all gussed up for the event :) I'll have to get someone to take a pictures of us!
