What a night! Both girls had games and I had a brutal headache .... would I survive? We were 2 girls short for Tessa's game so there was lots of double shifting. The girls played amazingly well. Things that we had talked about in practice on Monday was put into action: spreading out, staying with your check, holding the ball on your hip rather than your belly button, if your check held the ball at her belly button ... take it, rebounds ... oh the list could go on. It was SO exciting! Unfortunately the ball didn't drop through the hoop very much but the girls were still running and smiling. The experience confirms my belief in the no score games. The team played awesome but if they had seen the score, they would have been demoralized .... the other team hardly missed! The hour just flew by. Then we were off to Alexandra's game. Once again we were short, this time by 3 girls. Alexandra took a ball in the face early and we though we might have some challenges but with tears running down her face she runs to the other end and puts in a shot from the foul line. The rest of the game was thrilling. The girls dominated (we haven't had that experience much so it was lots of fun) and we spent the second half of the game requiring 4 or 5 passes before any shots could be taken. Everyone walked away with a sweaty brow and a big smile. Alexandra had an amazing game, anticipating and intercepting passes, making some great bounce passes, moving and rebounding. We all left the gym at 9pm on a high! Mitch has been helping me out with Alex's team on game night and I think he's enjoying being a part of it all. I knew he would :)
