Who Knew!

 We now are a house of four people, 2 cats and 2 fish!  I must admit that I never planned on the fish part of that sentence but Alex came home from Emily's birthday party in December with a Betta fish ... and things just started happening.  Initially he .... Blare .... was in this weeee little fish bowl up in Alex's room as we were trying to protect him from the cats.  After Christmas, he was still alive and we decided that a larger fish tank was in order so a $12 purchase at XScargo resulted in a fish tank with filter and all!  By this point we figured that the kitchen counter might be a better place for him to be ... and with this Blare became a part of the family.  We were constantly amazed at how interactive he was.  The way he flapped those fins around really gave us the impression that he was happy to see us.  He would follow your every move in the kitchen and it wasn't long before everyone was talking to him!  A fish!

Now Tessa wanted a fish too ... figures :)  So Alexandra decided she would give her one for her birthday.  The only problem was that Betta fish don't share tanks very well ... often fighting and killing each other.  So another tank was purchased and the day after her birthday we were off to Petcettera to purchase a fish for her.  She named her Betta fish "Roko", so now Blare and Roko are side by side on the counter in the kitchen.  When they see each other Blare flares up and looks quite tough, Roko only does this when we bring a little mirror towards the tank.

Mitch and I are in constant amazement at how intriguing these two little guys are ... we never expected that we would become fish people!
